Meet Dominique, a determined outdoorsman who refuses to let Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy hold him back. With a passion for adventure and a resilient spirit, he continues to embrace the outdoors, proving that no challenge is too great. His journey inspires others to push past their limits and pursue what they love.
In April 2019, Dominick was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a day that changed his family’s life forever. Running on the beach and playing freely became difficult, and adjustments had to be made to protect his muscles while maintaining his independence. His family worked tirelessly to adapt, ensuring he could still navigate daily life, including finding a home without stairs while preparing him for the moments when he would need to use them. Despite these challenges, they remained committed to making every experience inclusive, never letting his diagnosis define what was possible.
Shortly before the 2024 Disabled Outdoorsmen Banquet, Dominick was signed up for his very first hunt. He had the opportunity to take part in the first annual Shed Hunt, where he spent an unforgettable day outdoors alongside incredible families who share a passion for adventure. From the thrill of the hunt to the friendships formed along the way, the experience was more than just a day in nature—it was a reminder that the outdoors is for everyone.
Dominick’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of accessibility in outdoor adventures.
